Hi All

My fog light doesn't work. I've found no voltage at the tailgate, nothing at the connector inside the rear panel. Voltage is getting to pin 4 of the headlight switch and I've shorted that to pin 12 to check the switch.

So...

It must be between the headlight switch and the rear wheel arch, any ideas of possible problem locations?

Also...

I've taken the Sparkrite SR90 alarm system from my old Spacewagon and want to fit it to the Shalaxy. Has anyone got any experience of possible cable routing through the engine bulkhead and connecting to the Central Locking Interface?

As the car has LPG fitted, I think the only space under the bonnet will be next to the battery, therefore, at least the alarm is reasonable close to the CL unit.

Looking at that mass of wires under the seat makes me want cry ;)

Check your rubber boot from the body to the tailgate wires break there as they door body to doors

Sparkrite alarm mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Oh well route the wires in through a rubber grommet located above passenger foot area main grommet for most extra wiring

Cdl connections Under passenger seat or loom from drivers door above fuse box

Pos+ feed to lock and unlock

Wires if i can remember are green and grey but do test first

If your not sure get back to me

<Sparkrite alarm mmmmmmmmmmmmm>

I hereby swear that, if I ever find myself with the cash to get a good alarm, I will

But cash is very short at the moment so the Sparkrite will have to do.

Thanks for the help tho'

Well, I've been through the rubber boot, and the tailgate, and the D pillar (clips are fiddly) and the foglight still doesn't work!

Tonight, I took a wire from pin four of the headlight switch connector (C627) to the connector in the rear wheel arch (C4) and it worked, so the fault must be between pin 12 of C627 and pin 1 of C4.

Does the foglight circuit go back through the junction/fuse box on it's way from the switch to the bulb?

How easy is it to route another wire front to back?

Would a red torch behind my head be any easier? :D

I've finally sorted out the foglights.

A lot of wires in the tailgate rubber boot were damaged, but not the fog light wire. I was not getting any voltage at the wheelarch connector, so I scraped some insulation off the wire where it passes the drivers door. Only 8 volts there!

Simple solution, a new wire from the back of the headlight switch to the wheelarch connector!

I've also punched through the second foglight holder, going from no foglights to two in about and hour (plus the three weks trying to find the fault!)
